Have A Quick Review of Stocks Market with Stock Portfolio Tracker an AHK v2 Script

Stock Portfolio Tracker 📈
See what your stocks are worth in one click. No logins, no ads, no spreadsheet.

For years, checking my portfolio went something like this: open the brokerage site, log in, find the phone for the 2-factor code, click through three screens, and wait for it to load.

All I wanted to know was “How am I doing today?”

So we did what we always do when something annoys us. We automated it. 😊

Have you ever noticed how much time you lose to “quick checks”? They add up FAST.

What It Does

Stock Portfolio Tracker is a small desktop app for Windows. Type in your ticker symbols and how many shares you own. That’s it.

Every time you open it, the app grabs the latest prices from Yahoo Finance and shows you:

  • The current price of each stock
  • What each holding is worth
  • Your total portfolio value, in big green numbers
  • Optional % change columns so you can see how each stock did over the last day, week, month, year, and more

The Cool Stuff ⚡

Prices update on their own

Open the app and your prices refresh automatically. Want fresh numbers later in the day? Click Get Prices. All your stocks update at the same time, so even a big list is quick.

It checks your typos

Fat-finger a ticker? The app checks with Yahoo Finance before adding it, so you don’t end up tracking a stock that doesn’t exist. (Don’t ask me how I know this matters.)

See how you’re trending

Turn on the time periods you care about: 1 day, 5 days, 1, 3, or 6 months, 1, 2, or 5 years, year-to-date, or all-time. Each one shows as a % gain or loss.

Easy edits

Bought more shares? Click the stock, change the number, hit Update. Sold out of something? Select it and remove it.

Sort it your way

Click any column heading to sort. You can also set a default, like biggest holdings on top.

Export to a spreadsheet

One click saves your portfolio to a file that opens right up in Excel or Google Sheets.

Easy on the eyes

Dark theme for the night owls, and adjustable font size so you don’t have to squint.

Your data stays on YOUR computer

No account. No cloud. No one selling your info. Your list of stocks is saved in a small settings file right next to the app.

Getting Started Takes About a Minute 🚀
  1. Download and run Stock Portfolio Tracker.
  2. Type a ticker symbol (like MSFT) and how many shares you own.
  3. Click Add Stock. Repeat for the rest of your stocks.
  4. Next time, just open the app. Your portfolio is already there, with fresh prices.

Why bother?

One thing I’ve learned: the little tasks you repeat every day are the ones worth automating. Saving 2 minutes a day doesn’t sound like much, but that’s over 12 hours a year. I’d rather spend that time on just about anything else. How about you?

Heads up: prices come from Yahoo Finance’s public data and may be delayed. This is a handy way to keep an eye on your portfolio, not a trading platform or financial advice. It runs on Windows.
