Video Sandwicher: Add Your Intro and Outro to a Whole Batch of Videos

Every tutorial, every course lesson, every YouTube upload needs the same intro logo and the same outro card. Doing that by hand in a video editor gets old fast. (Ask me how I know. 😃)

Video Sandwicher does it for a whole batch at once: drop your videos in, pick an intro and an outro, click Go. Each video comes out wrapped in your intro and outro, with a clean fade between them.

Put your intro and outro on every video in one batch, instead of opening each one in an editor.

Video Sandwicher adds intros and outros to all your videos automatically

Your intro, your video, your outro: one batch

  • Batch it: drag a whole folder of videos onto the window (or click Import Files) and let it run.
  • Fades included: the intro fades out and the outro fades in. Pick 0, 1 or 2 seconds.
  • Mix sizes freely: a 1080p intro, a 4K main video and a 720p outro come out as one clean video. 4:3 and vertical phone videos get black bars instead of being stretched.
  • Your originals are safe: each finished video goes into a Sandwiched folder right next to its source, with a filename suffix you choose.

Copies your video instead of re-encoding it (when it already fits)

This is the big one in the October update. If your main video is already the size you’re outputting, Video Sandwicher doesn’t re-encode it at all. It copies the picture straight into the finished file. That means zero quality loss and a LOT less waiting.

On our test PC, a one-minute 4K video went from 34 seconds to about 4 seconds. On an hour-long recording, that’s the difference between getting a coffee and getting lunch.

Your intro and outro are prepared once for your output size and then reused for every video in the batch, so only the first video pays for them.

The output also keeps your main video’s frame rate now. A 30 or 60 fps screen recording stays 30 or 60 fps, and the intro and outro are converted to match.

Uses your graphics card

Video Sandwicher checks your computer on first launch and uses your graphics card when it can: NVIDIA, Intel or AMD. When the main video does need resizing (say 4K down to 1080p), the whole job stays on the graphics card when your card supports it. On our NVIDIA test PC, a one-minute 4K video became 1080p in about 9 seconds instead of 23.

No graphics card it can use? No problem. It falls back to your processor automatically. Slower, but it works everywhere.

Pick the intro and outro per video

ModeWhat it does
NoneSkip that side. Handy when you only want an intro, or only an outro.
SelectedUse the one you highlighted on every video. Perfect for a course with one branded intro.
RandomA different intro or outro for each video, picked from your library. Great for variety on YouTube.

Intro and outro are set separately, so you can mix them any way you like.

Small things that save you clicks

  • Progress you can read: the status bar shows which clip it’s on, percent done and roughly how long is left.
  • A Cancel button that really cancels: stop a batch and the running encode stops right away.
  • Built-in safety check: every finished video is checked for picture, sound and length. If anything looks off, it’s remade the classic way automatically.
  • Output size choice: Match Source, 4K, 1080p or 720p.
  • Hover tips: rest your mouse on any control to see what it does. Turn them off once you know the tool.
  • Remembers your choices: filename suffix, output size and intro/outro modes are all saved.
  • A chime when it’s done: no need to babysit the batch.
Real-world example: a course creator records 40 lessons raw, drops them all in, picks one branded intro and outro with a 1-second fade, clicks Go, and makes coffee. 40 finished lessons, ready to upload.

What you need

  • Windows 10 or 11
  • FFmpeg (if it can’t find it, Video Sandwicher offers to download it for you)

  • Bonus: the AutoHotkey v2 source is included, if you like to see how things work
  • Accepts MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MPEG and MPG. Finished videos are MP4.

A full user guide (HTML and PDF) comes in the download.
